Art Club

Art supplies, including paintbrushes and pencils, are arranged around the words 'ART CLUB'.

The Art Club application window for the 2026–2027 school year will open in mid-August. Information and reminders about the application process will be shared in August. Notification will be delivered through school social media platforms, morning announcements, and posters displayed throughout the school.

The Art Club at Journey Middle School welcomes students in all grades who have a passion for art, regardless of whether they are enrolled in an art elective course. Membership is limited to 25 students, and acceptance will be granted to the first 25 applicants based on the order in which completed applications are received. Students will be notified in writing after the enrollment window closes.

If you have any questions or would like more information, contact Mrs. Bagwell by email at jfbagwell@madisoncity.k12.al.us .

  • Students do not have to be enrolled in an art elective to become a member, but potential art club members must have a strong interest in art. They must also be able to work well with other members, follow instructions, and behave appropriately in the art studio. Students must have a signed Art Club contract/parent permission form to attend meetings. Students must have their own transportation home and be picked up from meetings on time.

  • Meetings will be held after school twice a month. We start right after school and end promptly at 4:30. Specific dates will be determined closer to the start of the school year.

  • Art Club is not a class. There are no grades or deadlines, and members will not be penalized for missing meetings. In Art Club, we experiment with various art materials and tools in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Students are presented with a theme or project at each meeting and have the option to make art independently or with other club members. Club members may also have the opportunity to be involved in art contests, community service projects, and school beautification.

  • Each member pays a non-refundable fee of $15, which pays for the Art Club t-shirt and consumable art materials used throughout the year. Students must be paid members to attend Art Club meetings.
