Welcome to Journey Middle School! I am incredibly excited about the 2026-2027 academic year and the incredible opportunity to work with JAGS and their families!
I am a native of Huntsville, Alabama, and attended Madison County Schools, graduating from Hazel Green High School. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language Arts from Fisk University and my Master of Education, Educational Specialist, and Doctorate of Education degrees in Leadership & Supervision from Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN.
I began my teaching career in 2006 at East Nashville Magnet High School in the Metro Nashville Public Schools, where I taught 9th-12th grade English Language Arts and served as Assistant Principal at Cane Ridge High School. After leaving Nashville, I joined Madison City Schools in 2014. During my tenure at Madison City Schools, I served as the Rise Academy & Alternative School Administrator and Assistant Principal at Liberty Middle School before being promoted to Principal of Journey Middle School. This is my 20th year in education, and I look forward to an exciting school year!
My husband, Charles, and I have two daughters, Addysyn and August. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me!

I am grateful to serve Journey Middle School as assistant principal. I enjoy working with teachers and other leaders in our school district to help ensure Journey's students are fully prepared to make the most of any opportunity they encounter.
I am a University of Alabama alumna, where I earned a degree in Secondary Education with a focus on English. I also earned a Master's in school counseling and a school leadership certificate from the University of West Alabama. During my tenure as an educator in Madison City Schools, I earned the distinction of being a National Board Certified Teacher. With Madison City, I have served as a teacher, instructional partner, and assistant principal. I began my journey in education as an English teacher at Oak Mountain Middle School in the Shelby County School District before moving north to Madison.
I was raised in the small town of Uriah, Alabama, just outside Monroeville, which left me with a great appreciation for fresh seafood and good storytelling. My family and I are also proud to be residents of Madison City. My husband, Dr. Brian Odom, is NASA's Chief Historian, and our daughter, Emma Clare, attended James Clemens and is now a 2025 junior at the University of Alabama.
I am excited about opening Journey Middle School with all of you! Let's make some memories!

Welcome to Journey Middle School!
I am truly honored and excited to join the Journey Middle School family as Assistant Principal for the 2025–2026 academic year. I look forward to working alongside our incredible students—our JAGS—and their families as we grow and learn together!
Originally from Camden, Alabama, I bring nearly two decades of experience in the education field. I began my career as a classroom teacher in Selma City Schools, where I served for ten years, building a strong foundation in instruction and student engagement. I then transitioned to Montgomery Public Schools, where I spent the past nine years as a school counselor at both the elementary and middle school levels, supporting students’ academic and emotional development.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Stillman College, followed by a Master’s and Education Specialist degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama. Most recently, I completed a Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from Auburn University at Montgomery.
My wife, Dollie, and I are proud parents of three amazing children: Corey Henderson (21), who is currently serving in the United States Air Force and stationed in Minot, North Dakota; Julia (18), who is beginning her next chapter at Alabama A&M University; and Aubrey (14), who will attend Bob Jones High School. We are incredibly proud of each of them and excited to be part of the Madison community.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or just want to connect. I can’t wait to get to know you all and begin this new journey together!

Welcome to Journey Middle School! I am thrilled to serve as your Assistant Principal and Athletic Director! I can not wait to meet all the JMS Jags this fall!
I grew up in Morgan County and graduated from Hartselle High School. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Social Science Education from Auburn University and my Master’s in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. I began my teaching career at Bob Jones High School in 2005. Since then, I have served in various other teaching and coaching positions in North Alabama, including Hanceville High School, Colbert County High School, Decatur High School, and Huntsville High School.
My wife, Marly, and I have lived in the Priceville area for eighteen years. Marly is also an educator. She is an elementary teacher in Morgan County Schools. I have numerous outdoor hobbies, including duck hunting, fishing, and golfing. I also love to fire up the grill or smoker any night of the week.
This marks my 21st year serving in public education, and I am excited to spend the 2025-2026 school year serving the students, parents, faculty, and staff here at Journey Middle School!
