Triston McGraw - Head Boys' Basketball Coach

I am honored to be the Physical Education Teacher and the Head Basketball Coach for 7th and 8th grade boys here at Journey Middle School. I am originally from South Carolina and I am a huge fan of anything sports related—Lakers and 49ers in particular. I moved to Huntsville in 2018, and I attended Athens State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. I then obtained a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Arkansas State University. This is my 5th year of teaching and coaching basketball. In my free time, I enjoy anything sports related and spending time with my wife and our four children.

I look forward to a great year in the classroom and on the court at Journey Middle School!

Arthur Johnson, Assistant Boys' Basketball Coach

I am from Huntsville, Alabama, and a father of 5. I graduated from Sparkman High School. Currently, I serve in the U.S. Army in the Alabama National Guard. I have been coaching for ten years on many different levels and am a part of local programs, such as the Jemison High School Elite 8 2021 team. I enjoy hunting and fishing and am an avid marksman, but I mostly enjoy spending time with my family.

I am looking forward to a successful basketball season! Go JAGS!

Rashard Davis, Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coach

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, I grew up in Huntsville City Schools and graduated from Lee High School in 2016. I continued my education at Stillman College in the fall of 2016, where I majored in Physical Education and minored in African American History. In the fall of 2018, I transferred to Savannah State University, where I pursued a degree in History.

My coaching career began in 2023 at Sparkman Middle School, where I served as the girls’ assistant basketball coach for two years. During my time at Sparkman Middle School, I was part of a program that captured the 2024–2025 Madison County Championship, an accomplishment that reflects the dedication, teamwork, and competitive spirit of the athletes and coaching staff.

My coaching philosophy is built on player development, discipline, teamwork, and a relentless commitment to improvement. As a middle school basketball coach, my mission is to help young athletes establish a strong foundation in the game while developing the confidence, character, and work ethic needed to succeed both on and off the court.
